The side-mounted float switch operates using a float that rises or falls with the liquid level. When the float reaches approximately 20 degrees from the horizontal plane due to buoyancy, it causes the lever arm to swing. This movement actuates a microswitch inside the junction box, either opening or closing the circuit.
In operation, as the float moves up and down, the magnetic reed switch inside the junction box is influenced by the magnet at the end of the lever arm, causing a change between the "NC" (Normally Closed) and "NO" (Normally Open) contacts. Similarly, this principle is applied to the microswitch, where the interaction between the magnets at the front of the microswitch and the end of the lever arm results in the switching action between "NC" and "NO" positions.
